This two-hour inservice teleconference will feature several presentations plus classroom video segments that focus on the use of the Multiple Intelligences concept as a basis for classroom instruction and assessment in elementary and secondary school settings. Topics will include a rationale for MI-based instruction and specific MI-based teaching and assessment strategies. Speakers include Ms. Marilyn Hrycauk, an educator from Alberta, Canada who brings her very broad experience with different learners (high school, junior high, primary, administration, special education) to bear on this critical area in a compelling presentation style, and Ms. Becky Barnett of Performance Learning Systems, who will illuminate the connection between MI and performance assessment. Participants will be provided with a set of curriculum materials to accompany the telecast. They will also be invited to call in their questions live to telecast speakers, as well as post comments and survey responses online.

Topics will include identification of hidden strengths in students and practical teaching strategies for the MI-friendly classroom. Presenters include Ms. Cathi Rust, a highly regarded workshop presenter and project coordinator for Missouri schools, and classroom teacher and nationally known presenter Mr. Bruce Campbell, co-author of Teaching and Learning with Multiple Intelligences and author of The Multiple Intelligences Handbook, who will be featured in a special interview.
