The Explorer Series!
Geography & Social Studies of Rivers in the Third World!
-- With Explorer Dr. Ben Mathes, an Indiana Jones-style wilderness
traveler and explorer, your students will travel rivers in the third world and
experience life in The Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) and Belize.
This two-telecast instructional unit features extensive videotape of Dr. Mathes
on these rivers, talking to the local chieftains, the people, and school kids
about their life, their experiences, and the river system itself. Study of the
two rivers involves two one-hour telecasts, complete with instructional plans
and worksheets for a two week unit on geography, politics, and lifestyle in
third world countries. Students from middle school through high school can ask
Dr. Ben questions live on the air, as time allows, and communicate with him via
e-mail for this two-week study period. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to
help your geography, history, political science, or ecology classes come alive!
The lessons are designed with flexibility in mind, to easily supplement your
curriculum.
Telecast dates are March 3 and March 17, 1998.
Telecast Times: 9:30-10:30 AM Eastern and 1:30-2:30 PM Eastern
