Richard Ramsey is a native of Florida, born and reared in ImperialPolk County. He attended public schools in Lake Wales and received his Bachelorof Science in Health and Physical Education (Magna Cum Laude) from FloridaA & M University. He went on to further his education at Florida A &M University, Florida Atlantic University and Nova University, where heobtained his Masters of Education degree and certification in Administrationand Supervision.

In 1981, Richard moved to Palm Beach County where he taught and coachedat Boca Raton High School. He performed as a teacher and assistant athleticdirector and later served in a triune capacity as the first black athleticdirector at Boca High. The next year, he served as assistant principal andcoach for the school. He transferred in 1987 to Spanish River High Schoolas an assistant principal in charge of a staff of five assistant principals,overseeing student attendance and discipline with a school enrollment of3,000 students. In February 1990, he was appointed principal at NorthboroElementary School, West Palm Beach, FL, where he served for 16 months. Richardwas appointed to his present position as principal at Lake Shore MiddleSchool in June 1991.

Dr. Ramsey has been doing staff development for many years and is activeon several reading and curriculum committees. He is an inspirational andinformative speaker who has presented keynotes, lectures, and media appearanceswidely in the state of Florida as well as nationally and internationally.
