In a school, the potential threat may already be inside: a child with access to a gun. How do you handle this threat? For the first time in history every school in America is being required to implement security and loss prevention principles, because every school in America is vulnerable to violence. Alan Foust brings to the table practical, constructive recommendations that reduce violence, increase security, and make the staff and students feel safer. Specific areas of instruction are physical security and survey methods, personal safety, threat assessment, and crisis response.

Alan has over 20 years experience in private and public safety including tenure as a state trooper and investigator, as security consultant, and as an interpersonal skills and leadership trainer. Alan holds the coveted Certified Protection Professional credential from the American Society for Industrial Security and is a member of the American Society for Training and Development, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the National Speakers Association. Over the last six years, he has delivered hundreds of workshops, presentation, and keynotes on security related issues to school personnel throughout the country.

Alan has authored The Security Handbook, the Safe School Kit, and three leadership training programs. He also authors and publishes The Informer, a quarterly newsletter that provides information on how to reduce loss, injury, and conflict in the workplace.
